University of Sydney's Online Mendelian Inheritance in Animals

Online Mendelian Inheritance in Animals (OMIA) is an online database, freely available to anyone in the world, created and curated in the University's Sydney School of Veterinary Science by Emeritus Professor Frank Nicholas. It provides up-to-date information on all known harmful and valuable mutations in animals.

Throughout 2018, the monthly average number of unique visitors was 5,921, coming from 150 countries. It is very important to ensure the maintenance and enhancement of this database and website which keeps the world freely informed about harmful and valuable mutations in non-laboratory animals. This is why we need your help to raise funds to enable the part-time employment of a software engineer, to enable OMIA to continue to perform this invaluable global public service. In the longer term, some of the donated funds may be used to support a part-time head curator, when Professor Nicholas is no longer able to fulfil that role.
