The big game: the program that makes elite athletes

Right now, our nation, and the world is rallying behind our most talented athletes. It’s a feeling that the Elite Athlete Program team knows well. We exist to rally behind our student athletes and help them achieve greatness.

It isn’t easy studying hard for a future career and training to be an elite athlete at the same time. The hours are long and intense and make holding down a job difficult. The Elite Athlete Program was created to help talented people with potential reach their sporting and study goals.

From talented sportsperson to elite athlete

When the program began 26 years ago, it could assist just three promising athletes. Now, it has grown to support more than 400 athletes every single year.

To date, the program has produced 146 Olympians and 58 medals; 12 of which were gold.

All this has been made possible by the vision and kindness of donors. The more support we have, the more we can do, and this month we want to raise $8000.

Support for academic and athletic achievement

Here are just three ways we help our student athletes reach their goals:

• Financial assistance: Study, training, competing and traveling all incur costs. We help cover things like tuition fees and textbooks, as well as sporting equipment and health insurance.
• International travel grants: When an athlete represents Australia or the University overseas, we provide travel grants of up to $1500, covering accommodation, air fares and registrations fees.
• Private tutoring: We offer free tutoring across a broad range of subjects so students receive academic support for their degree as they maintain their rigorous training schedule
